Moto Z Play is gimmick mostly but also a powerhouse performer
Motorola has dropped its flagship device, Moto Z this year with an innovative technology called Moto Mods. These Mods extend the functionality of the handset to things that were pretty much unthinkable before this. Now, the handset maker has come out with the more affordable variant of the handset, which is Moto Z Play. This handset too is the thinnest Motorola device till date and comes with support for Moto Mods. While the handset itself is quite economical, the price of Moto Mods, if you choose to go for one would make it a high end device. Here is a brief overview of the good and the bad of the new handset.
Why Should You buy?
Moto Mods Support: This smartphone has the same 16 Pin magnetic connector on the rear panel as found on the flagship. Therefore, it can support interesting mods like projector and JBL boombox.
USB Type-C: This handset has been equipped with the next generation USB Type-C port for connectivity instead of microUSB. This port brings functionality like quick charging and reversible port to the handset.
Big battery life: Motorola has equipped the newest smartphone from its stable with a large 3510 mAh battery. A moderate user can easily see through two day's worth of usage on a single charge.
Great cameras: Motorola Moto Z Play comes with a 16 MP camera on its rear panel, which we already know to be a great performer from Moto G4 Plus. Moreover, this camera has been coupled with Laser as well as Phase Detection Auto Focus.
Why Should You Not buy?
Camera bump is huge: Motorola Moto Z Plus comes with a flat rear panel and the camera bump is massive on this handset. This has been incorporated to ensure that the camera is still usable when a mod is snapped on the handset. However, not many users would opt for a mod that costs almost as much as the device itself and are at a risk of damaging their camera.
Any Alternative?
OnePlus 3: Spending well over INR 50,000 for some mod and compatibility, which would not even be used most of times does not make any sense. It would be a wiser decision to go for OnePlus 3, which is not only a lot cheaper but also comes with double the amount of RAM at 6 GB. Moreover, the handset has been equipped with bleeding edge technology like Snapdragon 820 and a powerful camera.
